 July-August 1999

On the evening of December 5, 1954, during the closing ceremonies of the Second National Marian Congress at the New Luneta Park, Manila, His Excellency, President Ramon Magsaysay consecrated the Republic of the Philippines to the Immaculate Mother of God with the following prayer:

For the boundless love which Thou hast, O Immaculate Mother of God and Queen of heaven and earth, to Thy Divine Son and Redeemer, deign to bless our beloved Philippines and to accept our heartfelt consecration to Thee as thy own people.

We beg of Thee to save the world and our country in a very special way, against the advance of communism, so that we may be all be Thine.

O Mary, Queen of the Philippines, pray for us and keep us ever safe under the banner of Thy Son, Our Lord. Amen.
