Catholic Doctrine   The Catholic Church   We may not revise or change doctrine. We cannot improve on what God has done.  We are always trying to improve things in the Church.  In all kindness, I tell my Anglican friend: "You are always wanting to revise your church". It cannot be too firmly asserted that we cannot update the Church because the Church is truth.  Truth is the first primary.  The Church is Christ on earth till the end of time. We cannot change truth.  The truth is transcendent.  It is above and beyond place and time. God is one - the Church is one - it doesn't seek unity.  It is unity.   Fr. Placid Croney, O.P.
