November 16: Day Twenty
Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur to Toril, Davao City

From Davao del Sur (Sta. Cruz SDA) to Toril, Davao City:  21.24km

The second to the last day of the pilgrimage of the Gensan-Davao route, the pilgrims woke up as early as 4:00am to prepare all the stuff that they need and also to attend their personal needs. At exactly 5:15am, his reverence, Fr. Eisenring offered the holy sacrifice of the mass, with 50 attendees. It includes the pilgrims and other visitors from that place. Moreover, the total distance the pilgrims need to cover for this day was 18 kilometers.

After the mass, the imposition of the scapular by Fr. Eisenring (since he's the only priest that time) to the 32 Catholics from that place was made, after a very short catechism was given to them regarding the Brown Scapular by Mrs. Felomina Hibanada.

To continue the main purpose of the activity, the PVWs began to walk at 7:20am. Even though the heat of the sun hurts the skin of the PVWs, they still pursued to walk carrying the great name of our great Queen and Mother.

The morning part of the day has been a long story to tell. The stop places on that day for the pilgrims were as follows: Brgy. Coronon (9:06am), Gastorgas, Darong, San Miguel, Sta. Cruz Highway, and lastly at the St. John Paul II Sub Parish (11:10am) where they stayed for lunch and for some rest until 1:15pm. Between these hours were mostly spent for the apostolate, then some recreational and/or resting time, depending upon individual preference.

They were also some funny scenes to tell on that day - like when Fr. Eisenring, who was accompanied by the driver and 2 others got lost that they had to trace back from where they are to the PVWs. They were already left by the pilgrims, as it is always the case to move forward and for others to catch up to the walk, especially those who do the apostolate along the way. Upon looking their way back, they did not notice that they went too far ahead already from where the pilgrims are, ending up waiting for them.

After a very long day of prayers, walk and apostolate, the pilgrims finally reached the last sleepover site, the covered court beside the Barangay in Binugao at 1:15pm and were welcomed by another 15 people. And for the rest of the rainy afternoon, catechisms were given to both adults and youngsters. A spirit of delight and happiness was almost felt by everbody, because of the active and zilling participation of those who wanted to learn what is truly in need to be learned. At almost 6:00pm, Fr. T. Pfeiffer arrived the resting place of the pilgrims, and upon his arrival, the pilgrims were praying the Holy Rosary.

Cold was the night, yet the pilgrims continued to show dynamism. Catechisms were given, while others were playing board games, others busy doing stuffs, while others were praying. They spent the night happily until they slept for a good night's rest.
