St.
Bernard Novitiate, Iloilo
February 2004

2
new novices began their novitiate with the taking of the habit last
28 September.
Br. Isidore Mary on the left and Br. Lawrence Mary on the right.
Both come from the island of Bohol, a island noted for its many
vocations
even before the Council. So these 2 new Brothers are carrying on
the tradition, along with 3 others.
As
many will remember that Br. Hyacinth came close to death last April,
on the 29th of September 2003, he made his first vows as a religious
Brother,
spiritually dying to the world the flesh and himself.
He is seen here with his parents along with Fr. Couture the District
Superior,
who celebrated the Mass of religious profession and received the
vows of Brother.
Some
of the first feed corn or yellow corn as it is also called.
It will be taken off the cob by hand and then put through a crusher
to be used as feed for the chickens, ducks and pigs.
As of now about 200 kg of crushed corn has been produced.
Br.
Patrick was quite happy to have his photo taken next to the lechon.
The feast was on the occasion of the Third Order Carmelites annual
visit
to the Novitiate just after Christmas.

order members.

Our
mother pig gave a nice litter of 12 just the Saturday after Christmas.
2 months later they are ready to be sold off except for 3
which we will keep for meat and another litter.
However it is easier said than done to find buyers for the 9 at
1500 pesos each.
It would repay our whole investment so far.
The Brothers
helped a number of neighbours with the butcher of 2 pigs
we had bought earlier and raised to 100 kgs.
Br.
Hyacinth was sent after his noviciate to the Priory of Our Lady
of Victories in Manila
where he occupied as the Sacristan taking over from Br. Thomas who
has returned to the Noviciate.
Br.
Cornelius professed a year ago replaced Br. Patrick in Manila.
