There
is not much choice but to get completely wet in order to find
the prey
in the fish ponds which our farm workers are taking some enjoyment
in.
These
are Tilapia, a native fish which we are raising in 2 fish ponds.
There are about 7 to a kilogram or 3 to the pound so not very
big, but quite tasty
and will be a source of the never-ending fish for the table. (Guess
who doesn't like fish).
A
happy reunion of Br. Cornelius who is now reassigned to the Noviciate,
with his 2 brothers who are postulants.
The
nearly 200 banana hills are beginning to flower and produce their
fruit
which will be fruit for the table but also some income at 30 pesos
per kilo
and about 25 kilos per stem so plus minus 750 pesos per stem.
Just 10 of these per week could supply most of the cost of our
groceries every week.

Here
is a picture of the before and after of our kitchen which was
given a very necessary resurfacing and wash-up area, thanks to
the faithful of Denver, Colorado. We are happy to announce that
the cockroaches seem to have moved out at least for the moment.
A busy mother pig and 14 piglets interested in one thing only
and that is a meal.
Born on 16 July, many of these will find their way to a feast
day table
probably around Christmas time as lechon baboy (barbecued pig)
We
are not sure why Fr. Cacho who spent three and a half years at
the Noviciate
is so happy. Is it because he is leaving for Singapore and the
Asian district Headquarters
or what? In any case the Filipinos here in Iloilo will all miss
him sadly
as was evidenced by a few tears at his farewell.
