In 1998, the
Legion of Mary was formed particularly through the efforts of Miss
Palisada. The Legion has persevered and grown considerably through
the years, being one of the largest groups in the Philippines. The
work of the Legion is of considerable assistance in our mission
apostolate, bringing new souls to the Church at all times.
As for the
history of our novitiate - In 1998, a 12 acre lot was purchased
for the construction of St. Bernard Novitiate. The lot was chosen
for the farm terrain, in the silent countryside about 25 kilometers
outside Iloilo City. Construction began and in 1999, the novitiate
being completed, four priests took up residency under Fr. Benoit
Walliez. Since then there has been a steady and slowly growing stream
of vocations.

In 2002, the
annual trips to Bohol began with the Pilgrimage to our Lady of Fatima
shrine in Carmen. The pilgrimage has grown through the years and,
in spite of great financial difficulties regarding their travel,
large numbers of faithful attend. Last year saw the highest attendance
from Iloilo. During the pilgrimage of 72kilometers, talks are given
during the three day march. Here is seen Fr. Daniel Couture, District
Superior, giving a talk in the ‘Man-Made Forest’.
In 2006, organized
by Fr. Albert Ghela, the first pilgrimage was organized to a Marian
Shrine in Pilar, on our Island of Panay. Nearly 150 people attended
from Iloilo, despite the torrential downpour that occurred. Many
graces were gained from such a pilgrimage.
The consecration
of the Church was done on September 23 by His Excellency Bishop
Williamson. Here are some pictures from the impressive and long
ceremony for your enjoyment.
May God grant
us the gift that you continue to help us with your prayers and assistance
to make all of this possible! Without you, the Church of Iloilo
and its adjacent priory would not have been possible.
In the Hearts
of Jesus and Mary,

Novice Master
