Fr. Ortiz visit to Tokyo
February 22, 2004

On the last two Sundays, we had the honor or having Fr Juan Carlos Ortiz in Tokyo. Fr Ortiz, an SSPX priest born in Colombia and ordained at Econe in 1984, currently teaches at the Holy Cross Seminary in Australia.

He arrived in Tokyo on February 22 on his way back from Europe. He gave a talk on his missionary experience in the French Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, before saying a low mass.

On the following day, he flew to Seoul, South Korea, with Fr Thomas Onoda.

After spending several days in Korea, he came back to Tokyo and offered a sung mass of the First Sunday in Lent for the faithful in Tokyo. In the afternoon, he made a world premiere (!) presentation on the life of Archbishop Lefebvre from his birth to the year 1969, using the very rare photos taken from the archives at Econe as well as a short presentation on the life and people of the Holy Cross Seminary in Australia.

We really appreciated his presence here, and the many interesting photos and stories he shared with us.
